Burgh Castle, Norfolk - a former Roman fort od Baz Richardson (now away until 1st July)

During the 3rd and 4th centuries AD it was one of a chain of ‘Forts of the Saxon Shore’, sited at intervals around the coast of south-east England. The forts protected Britain from attacks by raiders and pirates from across the North Sea, and may also have guarded harbours and merchant shipping.
